of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture (IPRAC) Marketing and Communications
Manager
The Institute for Puerto Rican Art and Culture (IPRAC), the
only self-standing cultural institution in the nation devoted
to showcasing and preserving Puerto Rican arts and historic
exhibitions, is seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager.
The Marketing & Communications Manager oversees all aspects
of marketing and public relations and will play a strategic
role in the opening of the Institute’s new permanent
location in Chicago’s historical Humboldt Park Stables
in the fall of 2008.
About IPRAC:
IPRAC is devoted to the promotion, integration and advancement
of Puerto Rican arts and culture by presenting exhibitions
and programming created to enhance the visibility and importance
of the rich Puerto Rican arts tradition. Since its inception
in 2000, IPRAC has operated a virtual museum offering exhibitions,
arts and crafts festivals, film festivals, community workshops,
and seminars by collaborating with Chicago-area cultural,
academic, governmental, and community institutions. More

Responsibilities:
The Marketing & Communications Manager will develop and
implement the Institute’s marketing/public relations’ strategy
and will report directly to the Executive Director.
The Marketing & Communications Manager’s major responsibilities
are to:
Develop and implement the Institute’s Public Relations
and Marketing strategy and budget.
Be the champion/spokesperson for the Institute’s growing
brand. Cultivate local, regional and national audiences for
IPRAC.
Publicize and promote IPRAC. Develop and manage all advertising
and public relations campaigns for the Institute’s exhibitions,
educational, and public programs.
Cultivate media relationships to ensure frequent coverage
and provide consistency and accuracy in all public materials.
Create all news releases and public service announcements.
Coordinate and manage special events (e.g., exhibition openings,
private events) in conjunction with Development.
Support fundraising efforts for the Institute’s annual
operating and exhibition needs.
Prepare and analyze monthly reports on museum usage and program
effectiveness.
Oversee the IPRAC website. Ensure layout, navigation, and
content meet user expectations. Monitor usage and maintain
current information on the website.
Qualifications:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in marketing,
public relations or related discipline. An advanced degree
is highly desirable. A minimum of four years of marketing management
experience in a museum or related cultural institution is preferred.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English
and Spanish are required. Computer proficiency necessary.
